Studies for Moderalizations of Regional Education in China

The article is the research findings of "The Theory of Educational Modernization and Research on Its Practice in Various Regions", one of the key research projects for the National Ninth Fice-year Plan. On the basis of comprehensive application of the modernization theory and regional scientific theory, it aims at studying the regional development of education in China, telling the regional development rules in educational modernization, choosing an educational model available to the future development and changes and promoting the course of educational modernization at regional level. This article first identifies the goals, strategy and methods for the research. Secondly it comes to the connotation, characteristics of modernization theory and educational modernization as well as the measuring standards. It explores the trend of the times and categories in the research of educational modernization based on the studies of the shaping and development of modernization theory. On such a basis, with the view to the whole progress of educational system, it explores the basic connotation and characteristics of educational modernization. With the reference of the indicator system of measuring the realization level the social modernization arriving to, it means to set up an indicator system of educational modernization. Thirdly, regarding to the exploration of the modernization course and background of education in China, the main factors such as science, economy, population, culture and modernization level, it provides historical and theoretical basis for exploring development course of educational modernization and the related factors. Finally, on the basis of classifying and analyzing the educational development levels in the 31 provinces and cities of China, it analyzes the regional specifics of educational modernization and the conditions for its realization in different regions of China. The divisions of the areas on different modernization courses are offered, namely the developed areas (the eastern coastline areas), average-developed areas (the middle parts) and lower undeveloped areas (the western parts). It analyzes the regional characteristics in the development of economy and education in different areas, the goals, tasks and policy of educational modernization for different areas. It also explores the strategy of coordinate development for different areas. It also explores the strategy of coordinate development for regions in China's educational modernization and the promoting strategy for educational modernization, meanwhile it puts forward the strategy of coordinate development for regions in realizing China's educational modernization.

An Analysis On the General Relationships between Educational Streeming and Social Statification in Mainland of China in the 1990s

This paper combines documentation research with historic-sociological method to explore the relationships among streaming in education, educational attainment,and social stratification.The paper is divided into seven sections. The major concerns of these sections are as follows:(1)relevant views on social stratification which constitute a theoretical base for an analysis of the relationship between educational streaming and social stratification;(2)educational streaming in the Chinese Mainland in the 1990s,wish an emphasis on graduates of the junior secondary and senior secondary levels of schooling;(3)the occupational categories and level of education of people whose occupations fall within those categories;(4)the occupations and level of education of people serving in those occupations;(5)the level of education of those people who do not work and those who are unemployed, and the relationship between level of education and their situation;(6)the relationship between social mobility and level of education;(7) the effects of streaming in education and level of education on people's occupational orientation and social mobility. By addressing the above concerns, this paper concludes that streaming in education and level of education have a general effect on people's occupational category, occupation, employability, and social mobility. The aforementioned factors also have an effect on the process of social stratification, which is "western" in origin, affords a certain degree of relevance to explaining social stratification in Chinese society in the 1990s.

Educational Belief: Narrative Inquiry from A Female Teacher
Juan Juan GENG
This is a case study of narrative. First, conclude the female language teacher’s routines through her teaching story. Then explore her personal beliefs of education, which are hypothesized hidden out her teaching behaviors, based on her self-interpretation of professional development. And then, search the key factors of her educational beliefs development via her life story where backgrounds of wider field of vision emerge. The purpose of this research is to develop our understanding of Educational Belief by learn the ordinary teacher’s personal development, teaching thinking and ideality rooting in Chinese culture in lively stories.

Schooling Years: A Principal’s Memories

This is a case study of a principal’s professional career of more than 20 years upon his manuscript since 1978. His ideas will be identified from his described work in the school, the evolution of his school will be interpreted by his schooling ideas, and the basic way of school reformation and development in China since 1978 will be emerged from the evolution of his school. The purpose of this report is to save some clear memories for the great historical change and call for integrated reformation within schools.
