Self-Realization: The Professional Development of a Chinese Teacher

Abstract This is a case study of teacher professional development. The paper aims to explore a excellent Chinese teacher’s inner self, which is composed of educational belief, spirits, and other practical knowledge, through his self-interpretation of professional development, then, to analyze the key factors of his inner self development in the perspective of his early life and teaching career, to discover what has he done to seek for self-realization in the public and his daily teaching situation, so as to describe a story of teacher professional development which can sharpen our understanding of teacher’s personal knowledge by searching a excellent teacher’s educational thoughts and identity rooting in Chinese culture and teaching context.
