Gorgeous Flowing on Canvas: Portraits of Women at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts from 1910-1940s

Abstract The Republic of China Women's Art Education is an important part of history of education in modern China. However, the scholars of educational history have paid few attention on this important subject, and the art research mostly focus on the painter's art history. This article will concentrate on the identity change of this female group who studied or taught at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, and the role of art education in their personal development, and discover, with subtle women writing, their social and personal fate.
