一群在改革开放之后出生的农家子弟在教育阶梯上逐级攀爬、步入“子不承父业”的人生旅程。本文将这样一群农家子弟称为“读书的料”，借助自传社会学和深度访谈的方法，试图解释性理解农家子弟取得高学业成就、实现阶层突破的进程伴随着的非预期后果。在逐级跨越学业阶梯的过程中，他们生发出了一个复杂的情感结构，身心难得自如，也衍生出与家人爱怨交织的关系结构。“读书的料”的文化生产具有复杂性，伴随高学业成就而生的是一个隐匿的暗面。家庭经验对于理解“读书的料”作为当代中国“阶层旅行者”的教育经验，进而理解其文化生产至关重要。

A group of rural kids who born after China’s Reform and Opening-up get access to the life of class traveler through keep climbing on the ladder of education. This paper defines these rural kids as “college material”. This research tries to interpret the unanticipated consequences in the process of getting high academic achievements and class travelling. In the process of climbing up academic ladder, “college materials” produce a complex structure of feelings which focuses on rural background, results in constraint body and mind and extends a relationship structure with both love and hate. The cultural production of underclass is very complex. A dark side accompanies with high academic achievements. Family experience is very important in exploring schooling experience of “college material” and their cultural production.
